New Daily Teams Meetings

Class pages will no longer be updated by the class teachers. This is due to our new learning expectations, which include a daily Microsoft Teams meeting, 08:45-09:00, to register home learners and prepare them for the day of learning.

To access Teams you need to be logged in to your school email account (Office 365) - for help, click here. Or see the child friendly video for using Office 365 - Outlook email  here.

For help using Teams, click here. Or see the child friendly video tutorial for using Teams  here.

Assessment work

You no longer need to email in evidence of your work on a daily basis - this has been replaced with set pieces of work that will be identified for assessment. Your teachers will tell you which ones these are in the morning Teams meeting and they will be clearly identified on the daily planning.

To send in your assessment piece, you will usually send an email (ideally from your own school account) with a photo or uploaded attachment of the work. Sometimes, assessment may just be to complete a Microsoft Form or to complete a quiz.

Your teachers would love to respond to all of your emails but that is not possible now. If you do not get a response, and you think you should have (i.e. you asked a question that needs a response), please resend the email with, ‘PLEASE RESPOND’ in the email subject line, this will act as a reminder in such busy times.

Teachers will select samples of work from those entered, to build exemplars of work against the set success criteria at differentiated levels (working towards age related expectations, working at expectations and working at greater depth) to reflect a normal classroom. The work selected will remain anonymous and will focus only on the good examples of meeting the success criteria. Pupils (and families) will then be given the opportunity to self-assess their work against the exemplars to judge how well they are doing and pick out some targets to work on in their next assessment piece.

Enjoy the new learning format.

Friday 22nd January

Yeah! We made it to the end of Week 3..I hope you are feeling really proud of all the hard work and effort that you have put in during this time.

This may be my last class page entry as we plan from Monday to start a daily Teams live link at 8.45-9am so that we can essentially register and start the day together.  I will then be on hand to talk through the day, answer any questions and discuss areas of learning to concentrate on.  Once I get the details I will of course end out the invitations to join.  This won't replace the Wednesday meeting - we will get that time too!

I didn't get too many emails yesterday so not many pictures today>  However, Angela has been as busy as ever completing a wide range of subjects- excellent work.

Whilst Odin has also been busy with his English writing and wanting to finish his book!  Well done.

Have an excellent day everyone and an even better weekend!

See you on Monday

Thursday 21st January

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you have all jumped out of bed and are raring to go!

Mr Quick has asked if I could let you have the following information - I hope you can read it ok?

It was lovely to see so many of you again yesterday.  It is never easy to get to speak to all of you or give as much time to each of you that you deserve however at least we can touch base.

Angela wanted you to see her huge Winnie the Pooh that she had with her - look at that!  I think we would all benefit from a hug from him.

Rufus has been busy with his Maths and writing the setting for his fable - look how he has also been remembering to underline any spellings he was unsure of AND using his Make it Better technique to correct them - Fantastic Rufus!  It wasn't all work though, he even did some baking Slytherin Snakes from his Harry Potter book - they look yummy.

Another great day, well done everyone.  Keep going. only one day left for schooling this week before you get the weekend off. Woo hoo!

Wednesday 20th January

Hello!

Another day, another lesson or two, three... and of course the Teams Class meeting - can't wait to see you all.  Don't forget if you have a piece of work that you would like to share with others and tell them about to bring it with you.

I was lucky enough to be able to speak with some of your adults / parents yesterday in my first parents evening of the week.  So pleased to hear that you are all trying your hardest and giving the home learning a try even when you find some topics really hard - great perseverance!

Some of you have said that you are struggling to fit everything in to a day so I want to help you try and plan your day - this will be different for different people but my most important message is don't try to do it all!  Concentrate on Maths and English (we are doing the same topics in class) then add in what you enjoy throughout the week.

Ben has made a great planner which he fills in daily adding times when he is going to have a go, (or crossing them out if not happening that day) maybe this will help you? Thanks Ben.

You should see his DT project, he has taken the process one step further and decide to make his very own cam mechanism - this looks brilliant!

Fin has been showing me his Maths and English work - I love his spelling test, mum made him write out the words he got wrong 4xtimes each, mum is stricter than me! (hehe-thanks mum!).

Rufus has been busy with his Maths, comprehension and Fable planning - look at his great story mountain, well done!

Angela has been keeping on top of her Reading, quizzing and TT  too..

Last but not least, Luke has sent in a picture of his cat Cosmos!  Thanks Luke.

Have a great day everyone..

Tuesday 19th January

Good Morning!

Here we go again then.... great news Giovanna and Luke have both reached their 100% personal reading target, in fact Luke has done it twice - incredible, well done to you both.  Remember you too can read and quiz at home.

Buddy has emailed me to let me know how he has been getting on, working hard on his Maths and English as you can..

Rufus has been catching up with his English fable planning and working very hard on his Maths, even using 2p coins to help him with his division and grouping- great idea!

Fin has been in touch with a lovely picture of him and his dog Scout to add to our Pets corner collection - don't forget yours!

Harvey has taken an artist approach to the day - I bet the finished piece looks amazing, well done Harvey.

Whilst Ophelia had been also looking at the DT and RE tasks - really nice to see some of the curriculum topics also being covered.

Better not forget the cats!!! Vivienne and Poppy who also both made their star appearances on Friday!

Last but not least, Angela has been really busy looking at lots of topics too but I especially liked the fact that she has continued to use purple pen to mark her work and is still trying to answer in full sentences - great job!

Well done everyone - very proud of you all.

Have a great day

It's Monday 18th January!

Welcome back!

Thank you to all those of you who were able to join our class Teams meeting on Friday, it was so lovely to see everyone again and some new members!

Here are Sammi's furry family members:

Chester the cat and Suzy the Cavalier King Charles

Don't worry she has also been working hard on her Maths and English.  I love her neat layout and presentation - very clear and easy to understand, well done.

Rufus has finished his Non Chronological report on Koala's editing and publishing as we would in class.  I think you will agree that he has done an amazing job, very impressive.

Angela has been her usual busy self, so today thought you might like to see her Turbo SPAG, nice to see all areas of the curriculum being covered.

Harvey has been baking - oh my goodness, wait until you see his cookie!  I am hungry now, is all I can say....

Whilst Brandon, has been his usual diligent self and has been beavering away with his learning.  I was please to see some Nasty Writing come through - how have you been getting on?

Well done everyone.

Have a great day and remember to keep emailing me!

Friday...

We made it!

I really hope that you received the invitation to join the class lesson / meet up at 10.15am this morning?  I have had quite a few replies to say that they have and are looking forward to getting together - I really hope it works...

Lots of great work being sent in again yesterday, so thank you, it makes my day seeing what you have been doing.

Fin has been busy creating a chickadee.. so clever!  Better than anything I could do.

Angela has been hard at it again with her Nasty Writing, English Fable planning and Maths - lots of great workings out using her methods - great job!

Sammi hs been working hard on her Maths, English and Computing - not an easy task to attempt when we haven't done it before so great perseverance well done.

Ben has been busy too practising his spellings with Nanny over zoom - what a great idea.  Maybe you could come up with some creative ways to test yourself! He hasn't forgotten his Maths and English and even found time to bake some cookies -oohh, I bet they were delicious.

I also had emails from Rosie, Harvey, Odin, Brandon & Rufus checking in.. Thank you and well done everyone.

Two weeks down- we have got this! I look forward to seeing you at 10.15!

Hurrah it's Thursday!

We are coming towards the end of week 2, how time flies!

Another great day of learning yesterday and again a few emails coming through with your amazing work..thank you.

I was impressed to see Ben having set up a daily timetable -= if you are struggling to plan your day I am sure he wouldn't mind you borrowing his plan!

Odin decided to do some additional English work on a topic that he loves to practice his story planning, inverted commas for direct speech and adjectives.

Ophelia has been diligently doing the RE and Maths lessons..

As has Angela - Look at her using her using her methods to help her!

and Ben - Great cube making and use of Expanded Column Method too.

Amazing effort everyone..  If you are missing your class friends then don't forget we are going to try and join together at 10.15 tomorrow on Microsoft Teams for a catch up.  We will take it in turns to speak and Show Courtesy, Care and Kindness to one another and hopefully have some fun.  I hope you can make it.

Have a great day.

Macarla Lucas

Wow - it's Wednesday!

I hope you had a productive day yesterday? I know Fin did!  Fin and his family made me a lovely Nanny Goats Gruff video which I think you will also enjoy..check this out. Amazing.

Whilst Angela has been busy working on her Fables (and lots of other subjects too) in English - I love the Story Mountain.  I hope you managed to sequence the fable as well as she did?

There are few others in school working hard like you again today but please don't forget to keep quizzing those books and working towards your Reading Target... every little helps!

I look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Macarla Lucas

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Welcome back to another day of home learning, as you have probably already seen there is lots to work through again today.  We have been working hard to make sure there are a range of activities to suit everyone and to keep you busy but don't forget to take time out for some fun too!

Mix your day up, pick and choose between things you enjoy and things that will stretch you - I promise you we are working through the same work in class, so we are all in it together.

I did get a few emails and pictures yesterday which I thought you might like to see - some people have been so busy!

Please remember to send me an email to let me know what you have achieved and maybe a photo or two so that I can encourage others.

Have a great day

Macarla Lucas
