New Daily Teams Meetings

Class pages will no longer be updated by the class teachers. This is due to our new learning expectations, which include a daily Microsoft Teams meeting, 08:45-09:00, to register home learners and prepare them for the day of learning.

Assessment work

You no longer need to email in evidence of your work on a daily basis - this has been replaced with set pieces of work that will be identified for assessment. Your teachers will tell you which ones these are in the morning Teams meeting and they will be clearly identified on the daily planning. 

To send in your assessment piece, you will usually send an email (ideally from your own school account) with a photo or uploaded attachment of the work. Sometimes, assessment may just be to complete a Microsoft Form or to complete a quiz.

Your teachers would love to respond to all of your emails but that is not possible now. If you do not get a response, and you think you should have (i.e. you asked a question that needs a response), please resend the email with, ‘PLEASE RESPOND’ in the email subject line, this will act as a reminder in such busy times.

Teachers will select samples of work from those entered, to build exemplars of work against the set success criteria at differentiated levels (working towards age related expectations, working at expectations and working at greater depth) to reflect a normal classroom. The work selected will remain anonymous and will focus only on the good examples of meeting the success criteria. Pupils (and families) will then be given the opportunity to self-assess their work against the exemplars to judge how well they are doing and pick out some targets to work on in their next assessment piece.

Well done for making it to the end of our second week of home learning. Hopefully by now you're beginning to get back into the swing of things. I've spoken to most of you and your parents by now and I am very proud of how well you are doing. If I haven't heard from you, please get in touch. I hope you have a well deserved break over the weekend.

Here are our Top 10s for this week, hot off the press. There are some truly fantastic numbers being posted and I'm particularly impressed with our Reading Targets given our current circumstances and where we are in the term. 

Oh, and in case you're wondering, it looked dark in the classroom because I was looking at the seagull with the ipad through a bright window. We are allowed to have the lights on, things haven't gotten quite that bad yet!

Afternoon all. Thank you to all of those children who joined our meeting of awesomeness this morning. Hopefully you've put everything back from our treasure hunt - I don't want to get into trouble with any parents! Talking of parents, I spoke to some yesterday afternoon and I'll be speaking to some more tomorrow afternoon/evening - I would like to thank everyone for the support and appreciation. Keep doing what you're doing, you're amazing!

I've had some fantastic poetry work sent to me already this week. Inspired by Josh and his computing skills, I've uploaded a couple of videos, so we can all enjoy some performance poetry. 

We're trying to get a bit more interactive with things, so there's going to be a live exercise class starting next Wednesday, see the video below for details.

Afternoon all. I hope your day of home learning went/is going ok. Sorry, I've been as busy as a busy bees busy bits once again, but hopefully things will have calmed down by the end of the week. Thanks you to those children to have sent me things recently, I'll be uploading as many as I can in the near future. A couple of more of you have told me that you'll be joining us for our Teams chat tomorrow, so hopefully we'll have even more than last Friday!

Hi All! Forgive my late arrival this afternoon. You'd think I'd be less busy with the smaller number of children we have in school at the moment, but far from it. One of the things I've been doing is trying to get ready for parent's evening this week. Yep, they're still going ahead (or at least they are at time of writing this) and I'll be ringing parents tomorrow and Thursday evening, if they have arranged an appointment. I hope you're well on your way with your home learning today and don't forget to get in touch with any problems.

Hi Everyone! Thank you to those children who managed to join me for our Teams chat this morning - between you and the children I have in my bubble, that's about half the class so far. If you don't have access to Teams and I haven't heard from you yet, please send me a quick email to say hello. We'll be doing another chat on Wednesday at 9.30, so if you can join us, please do. 

Hopefully you're getting back into the swing of this home learning business again, but do let us know if you're having any problems. Try to enjoy the weekend as best you can and stay safe.

So, it's another wet and miserable day in Sunny Worthing. I can't do a lot about the weather I'm afraid, but I can tell you that you're all amazing..... you're amazing! Keep in touch and let us know if you have any problems. My bubble are currently at P.E. and I'm catching up with a few things. After school we're testing the technology that we're going to be using tomorrow for our video call, so assuming that I haven't burnt our classroom down, we'll be good to go!

News just in - apparently we're going to give video calling a go for those that have access to in on Friday this week (and then on Wednesdays, as from next week). Don't panic if you don't have access to it - you know what I'm like with computers! Expect details to be sent out to you soon, if they haven't already. In which case, I'll leave Top 10s until then. I look forward to seeing as many of your lovely faces as I can, assuming (and it is a big assumption) I can get my video calling to work.

Hello again to you all on this rainy Tuesday winter's morning. If you're reading this, well done for finding your way to our class page. A few more of you have been in contact and sent me some work, I'll be responding to you individually later in the day when I have more time, but for now, thank you. 

We've been asked to carry on doing Top 10s during lockdown. This is to recognise those children who are continuing with the IXL etc., but there is no expectation that you do this in addition to your home learning (unless it's part of your home learning obviously). I'm just letting you know that I'll be completing our Top 10s on Thursday as usual and posting them here on our class page.

Hi Everyone! Well, here we are again - the joys of home learning. Thank you to those children who have already contacted me and sent things in. Like some of the other teachers, I'm teaching my bubble during the day, but if you're stuck, or don't understand anything, please get in touch and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can. If it's a technical issue, you might be better of contacting Mr Hicks directly (see Yr 5 Home Learning) as he's responsible for uploading the resources.

Basically, I'll repeat the message I gave you the first time we met - Don't panic! Do what you can and try your best. I would appreciate a quick email and perhaps a picture of something you've been up to (particularly if it's DT related) every now and then and I'll try to upload a selection as often as I can.
