Chesswood Junior School

Christmas

St George's Church

Always the biggest whole school event of the year! We can't all fit into St Georges so we split the school. The children take it in turns to sing from the pews and on the stage. There is always a story, singing, soloists and narrators. The Choir perform and the Boys' Choir perform. The Recorder Club and other instrumentalists accompany.

Some of the Boys' Choir are getting ready to sing...

Angmering Chorale

We were invited to sing with the prestigious adult choir, the Angmering Chorale. We sang Wassail with the adults and a few numbers on our own. An incredible experience for children to sing with adults. A full day of rehearsal concluding with an amazing carol concert.

Choir On Tour

We sing at most of the Care Homes in our community. Our most popular venue is the Sydney Walter Centre. I can only take a selection of the choir to each venue as most of the care homes can only accommodate 20-30 of us. Each member of the choir usually attends at least 2 care homes - after all, there are over 130 children in the choir! I drive the minibus to further away places like West Chiltington and West Worthing.

We were invited to sing at the Salvation Army. The mayor was there.

Singing in the Town Centre

This is always a really popular performance as it gets us all in the mood for Christmas. We sing next to the Christmas tree to support the Rotary Club with their Christmas appeal. Hundreds of late night shoppers stop to listen us.

The Christmas fair

The choir are used as a warm up to our wonderful Christmas Fair and they put everyone who turns up in a Christmassy mood. We sing outside as the parents and friends of Chesswood arrive - we know to wrap up warm.
