MUST - Spelling

Must homework is essential to complete each and every week.

Homework is provided in three tiers - each child will only receive the tier that is appropriate to them. Generic wording is included below for information only, it may change over time. Also, each child's assigned tier may change over time, for example, if spelling test results improve in class, therefore, it is essential that each child opens their assignment to check if there is a different message each week - it also helps us know who has opened the assignments each week.

Watch the video on the Homework page if you are unable to access Microsoft Teams - LINK.

If you would like to know how to support your child with writing (including spelling) homework, please visit our support page - Writing Support at Home link.

TIER 1

Please practise the spellings that you have been giving to learn at school.   You can record your practise in your pink homework book but will not need to show this to your teacher.  Choose one of the spelling activities on your spelling activity sheet to help you – if you’re stuck on which one to choose – try Pyramid Power or Rainbow Words as we have worked on these in class.

Ask parents or siblings to test you on your spellings and practise the ones your still find difficult.

If you’re unsure about which words to focus on, please speak with your child’s teacher.  Children in Tier 1 are likely to have had spellings set for them by Mrs Haddick.

Tier 2

Please practise the spellings that you have been giving to learn at school.   You can record your practise in your pink homework book but will not need to show this to your teacher.  Choose one of the spelling activities on your spelling activity sheet to help you – if you’re stuck on which one to choose – try Pyramid Power or Rainbow Words as we have worked on these in class.  Alternatively, you could attempt either of the spelling games which can be found by clicking the links provided on Teams in the assignment.

Tier 3

Please practise the spellings that you have been giving to learn at school.  Some of these words you will already know, you should aim to learn as many of spellings you don’t know as possible.  To help you know which words you need to learn, you will be tested on these words at the start of next week in school.  You can record your practice in your pink homework book but will not need to show this to your teacher.  Choose one of the spelling activities on your spelling activity sheet to help you – if you’re stuck on which one to choose – try Rainbow Words or Pyramid Power as we have worked on these in class.   Alternatively, you could attempt either of the spelling games which can be found by clicking the links provided on Teams in the assignment.
