Consistent Teacher Judgements

The ‘securing consistent teacher judgement’ document has been designed and has evolved in response to changing reporting requirements and information available. All staff with responsibility for reporting to parents must use this document to moderate their judgements. The document supports both clarity and consistency, however there will always be aspects that may be debated one way or another, as there is some professional judgement and inevitable subjectivity. Staff are expected to report their judgements professionally, without fear or favour and on the best information available.

The overwhelming majority of judgements are agreed in each reporting round, however should there be any questions, queries or concerns parents should speak with the class teacher in the first instance.

Technical information is displayed towards the back of the document e.g. the number of words required for Jedi status within each year group.

There is a reasonable limit to the amount of information parents need or want. We believe we have selected the most appropriate and important information to include in the termly reports. We collect other information to support our professional understanding of aspects that may influence an individual child's performance, in reflecting on the broad information available professionals are best placed to determine the steps necessary with the family and the child to accelerate and optimise achievement.
