Chesswood Junior School

Spelling and Grammar

The new curriculum sets higher expectations for children's grammar, punctuation and spelling skills (set out in the Oxford University Press leaflet below). This is particular relevant for those children who have learnt under the old and new curriculum, as there will naturally be gaps in their experience and understanding. At Chesswood, we seek to bring children up to the expectations required and would encourage parents to support their children, at home, in this area. The menu on the left will lead you to booklets which can be used to help you become familiar with the new curriculum, the expectations set, and to support with ideas on how to support your child. The 'spelling practice' links provide you with resources to use with your children to help them learn their spellings.

Wordle

A really tough game for children who love games. Play with your family and friends - you are probably too young to do this alone. Top Tip - start with a word with at least two and possibly three vowels (a,e,i,o,or u).

Grey - letter is not found in the word

Gold - letter is in the word but in the wrong place

Green - letter is in the word and in the right place
