SHOULD - Writing
USeSHOULD homework is expected to be completed each week, this will happen after the MUST homeworks are completed.
Homework is provided in three tiers - each child will only receive the tier that is appropriate to them. Generic wording is included below for information only, it may change over time. Also, each child's assigned tier may change over time, for example, if writing improves in class, therefore, it is essential that each child opens their assignment to check if there is a different message each week - it also helps us know who has opened the assignments each week.

Tier 3 - Developing Writing
Please take a look at and then have a go at one of the writing tasks on our Year 5 homework page (Link to this page provided - see table below).
You will need to scroll down the page a bit to find them. When you've found one that you like the look of please click on the picture and a new window will open that explains what you need to do. Some of the writing activities also have writing frames attached that you can use if you want, Good luck!
You could do your writing in your pink homework books. You may wish to show it to your teachers to celebrate your homework achievement, however, you do not need to hand it in as the work will not be marked.

Book ReviewHave you a read a good book lately? Write a book review to help encourage other people to read the same book. Your review should include: A brief introduction to what the book is about – but don’t spoil the story! The name of the book and the author. What makes the book so great? Who you think would enjoy the book – e.g. is it for anyone, children only, people who love animals. |
Diary EntryPick an event or day recently that you would like to write about. It doesn’t have to be a school day — it could be something from the weekend. Write a diary entry talking about the day – you could include talking through the day in chronological order, describing what you did and how it made you feel. |
Letter WritingWrite a persuasive letter to your new teacher to try to persuade them into changing something in school that you think would make things better. E.g. being able to wear P.E. kit every day or having an extra break-time. |
