WEEK 4

DAY 1 - MONDAY 4TH MAY

Good morning children!  Hopefully you're raring to go for a shorter week of home learning this week (just 4 days)!  Remember to just try to do the best you can.  Not all of you will be able to complete all of the tasks, and that's okay!  Maybe try to do a subject you haven't attempted in a while.  Remember you each have your own log in for your school email, IXL, TT Rock Stars, Accelerated Reader and Duolingo.  If you have any difficulties with these, your teacher can help.  By the end of this week, you'll want to be over halfway towards meeting your AR target.  There will be a new episode of Chesswood TV out early this week and don't forget there's the year group collages to try and get featured in at the end of the week.  Any problems, get in touch.  Have a great day!

Monday  23 March

Happy Monday Year 3! Ready to learn from home? Did I hear no uniform?! (Woohoo!)

This is our first day of home learning - there will be glitches - please bear with us and feedback through the emails above. Thank you!

Quick explanation: The Daily Learning is below this writing.  Some resources allow you to click on them and they take you directly to a website! Some pictures will also take you to the required site such as AR, TT RockStars, IXL, Youtube etc. If you have a paper version, you can follow the link trail instead (this is usually in red to help you spot it).

We recommend that you make a 'timetable' for your child's day, be it on paper/a whiteboard. Every child loves structure and it may help them to be more independent, helping you if you are having to work from home too! This timetable should be whatever works for you and your child but we would suggest a couple of breaks with a snack in between learning and also at least an hour break for lunch with free time.

First task of the day: Competition time - Closes Friday 27th March, 4pm!

Decorate your home learning book! You could draw on it, cut out pictures from magazines/newspapers, write in a cool font such as bubble writing, whatever you like! This book will contain most of your work and therefore you need to love it and take great care of it. If you have plastic book covering film we would recommend using this to keep it protected for longer (no worries if not - don't make a special trip to the shop to buy it!) once complete, send a photo to your teacher to take part in the competition! One entry per class will be chosen as the lucky winners and a prize will be personally delivered to your house! WOW.

Best of luck, if you need any more support/advice please contact: y3support@chesswood.w-sussex.sch.uk

Also, don't forget to visit your class page - your teachers will use this to share messages, work, photos and updates.  It's the easiest way for you to communicate as a class.  Which class will have the best page in Year 3?  The page is only as good as each of you make it!  Click below to find your class page.

Year 3 Core Homework

THESE PAGES WILL NO LONGER BE ADDED TO DURING THE HOME-LEARNING PERIOD

The weekly homework tasks are a good place to start. The menu on the right has a link to your year group weekly tasks 'Year 3 Homework'. Within this link , you will be able to access Year 3 curriculum leaflets and the Year 3 Takeaway Tasks. An archive of all homework can also be found through this link.

This allows you to focus on -

English Maths Take-Away Tasks
  • Read daily
  • Learn spellings
  • Complete IXL grammar activities
  • Learn times-tables and related facts (rapid recall)
  • Practise written methods
  • Complete IXL maths activities
Engage with a wide range of optional activities linked to the current topic. Although optional, we strongly encourage every child to complete at least 1 activity in a half-term

Year 3 Wider Curriculum

Curriculum Leaflets

The Year 3 Curriculum Leaflets are available through the 'Year 3 Homework' on the right. These give you a broad overview of the areas of learning each term. Children can use these to support further research in areas of interest.
