Hello and welcome to Year 5's daily learning for you all to work on during lockdown. We've posted lots of resources below and our expectation is that you'll be trying to do as much work at home as you would normally do during a day in school at Chesswood. 

An example timetable is included below which will be very similar to the one that the children who are still coming into school will be following.

Once we get fully up and running, we will be posting lots of wider curriculum resources and activities for you to enjoy but please don't feel that you have to do all of these. We'd suggest that you choose one or two of these to do each day.

5.3.21 Update

Please note that the work to be submitted this week is: Tuesday's Maths, thursday's writing, thursday's Science and Friday's ART.

Hi All and we hope that you're all well,

Just a few days to go now before we're all back together and we are so looking forward to seeing you all again!

If you have any questions or concerns about coming back in please email either Mr Hicks or your class teacher and they will get back to you and talk to you about it. You could also take a look at the excellent Child and Family support pages on the Chesswood website.

Sadly, we have now finished our Class Reader, which Miss Usher read so brilliantly. If you haven’t listened to all of the videos for ‘The Boy Who Sailed the Ocean in an Armchair’, go and find them on the Chesswood YouTube and have a listen – you can do the quiz when you’ve finished!

Your top tips today:

In today's Maths we are calculating fractions of a quantity so please either open up or print out the resources you'll need (4 Operations sheet, White Rose video, daily questions and extension task). Start by watching the White Rose video and then work through the resources.  If you're unsure what to do or have any questions please email your teachers. 

 Today in English there's no Nasty Writing and your main writing task is to write your conclusion to your instructions and to then edit and present the main body of your instructions. Mrs Hossin has kindly done the writing input video for us today (as she did yesterday - many apologies!) and so do make sure that you start off by watching this.

For the wider curriculum today please focus on Art.

26.2.21 UPDATE

Hi All and we hope that you're all well,

Welcome to our second lighter learning day!

Please see below for the flip-pages and a separate links page for the activities.

There won't be any morning Teams' meetings today.

We'd suggest starting the day with a TT Rockstars' Soundcheck like we normally do on a Friday and then we've got two hours of lovely fun activities planned by Mrs Button. After break you can either do some IXL and reading for pleasure or if you haven't had a chance yet to have a go at yesterday's Science experiment you could do that instead. All of the support resources that you'll need are further down this page as part of yesterday's learning.

After lunch we'd strongly recommend that you do something fun!

We're really looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
