New Daily Teams Meetings

Class pages will no longer be updated by the class teachers. This is due to our new learning expectations, which include a daily Microsoft Teams meeting, 08:45-09:00, to register home learners and prepare them for the day of learning.

To access Teams you need to be logged in to your school email account (Office 365) - for help, click here. Or see the child friendly video for using Office 365 - Outlook email  here.

For help using Teams, click here. Or see the child friendly video tutorial for using Teams  here.

Assessment work

You no longer need to email in evidence of your work on a daily basis - this has been replaced with set pieces of work that will be identified for assessment. Your teachers will tell you which ones these are in the morning Teams meeting and they will be clearly identified on the daily planning.

To send in your assessment piece, you will usually send an email (ideally from your own school account) with a photo or uploaded attachment of the work. Sometimes, assessment may just be to complete a Microsoft Form or to complete a quiz.

Your teachers would love to respond to all of your emails but that is not possible now. If you do not get a response, and you think you should have (i.e. you asked a question that needs a response), please resend the email with, ‘PLEASE RESPOND’ in the email subject line, this will act as a reminder in such busy times.

Teachers will select samples of work from those entered, to build exemplars of work against the set success criteria at differentiated levels (working towards age related expectations, working at expectations and working at greater depth) to reflect a normal classroom. The work selected will remain anonymous and will focus only on the good examples of meeting the success criteria. Pupils (and families) will then be given the opportunity to self-assess their work against the exemplars to judge how well they are doing and pick out some targets to work on in their next assessment piece.

Enjoy the new learning format.

Hello 3DH!

I believe this will be the last post from me on the class page. Instead, I will be available every morning on teams between 8.45 and 9 am to go through the day with everyone. I have sent an email to everyone - use this to get your friends email addresses. Maybe ask your adults if they can organise a phone or video call with your friends. Do not use phones, emails or video calls without permission. There are safety videos here to help you stay safe online:

Make sure to scroll down to see what your friends have been up to....

Mr. Quick and Mr Haggart have a live PE lesson planned for next Wednesday. So dust off those trainers and get invovled! Here's a sneak peak of what's to come......

When you get there, have a lovely weekend 3DH and I will talk to you soon.

Story time!

Lily's been busy reading! Remember - you can take your AR quizzes between 7am and 7pm. Use the book to help you if you need reminders.

Great writing!

Mattie has sent in some amazing writing! There are some very strong adjectives and verbs used here - it really helped me to make a clear image in my head as I read it.

Thursday 14th January

Hello 3DH!

I hope everyone is well.

So, I'm really looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow on the Teams call! I knew that computing lesson on video calls would come in handy! We will take it in turns to talk, have a little catch up and then if there's time, I will read you a story. You should receive information of how to use Teams before the call so do not worry if you cannot remember how to use it.

Thanks to everyone who has been sending their work in, I can see a lot of people have been quizzing, using TT rockstars and IXL, so well done!

Talk to you soon.

Mr Harney

wednesday 13th january

Hello 3DH!

How is everyone?

Thank you to everyone who has been sending work in - it has really cheered me up! I hear Maya has been working really hard with her big brother and that Mattie has found a strange creature on the beach! Lily has been making healthy food and has made a meal with colcannon in it - one of my favourites!

If you are worried about home learning or need advice with how to do it, please let me know so I can help you.

Talk to you soon

Mr Harney

Fun at the beach!

Mattie found this curious creature called a 'snakelocks anemone'! Mattie says it is poisonous, but don't worry she didn't touch it!

Hello 3DH!

Welcome to your first full week of home learning! I hope everyone is feeling well and happy. I cannot wait to see all of the lovely work you have been making at home. If you would like to send me photos of you working or anything else you are up to, that would be amazing!

If you would like to talk to each other, remember you can contact each other via email or maybe you could arrange a video call like we used in computing.

If you get stuck or you have any questions, please let me know and I will try my best to help you.

Talk to you soon,

Mr Harney

Amazing Readers!

Send in your reading photos! Well done Arthur and Robyn!

Great Work!

Amazing work Thomas!

welcome 3DH!

I've been having a great time reading all about you and I have also really enjoyed meeting the children who visited Chesswood. I am so excited for September and I am looking forward to meeting all of you properly! Great times to come!

It isn't too late to send in your challenges or your 'All About Me' posters, so please just send them in when you are ready.

Here is a little postcard for you so you can get to know me a bit better. It's only fair that if you are sharing all the cool stuff about you, then I should do the same. We are 3DH, so we always work together.

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading my postcard. I am really looking forward to seeing you all in September. We will be an amazing class and we will all take care of each other. You will settle in before you know it! Have an amazing summer, 3DH and I will see you all in September.
