New Daily Teams Meetings

Class pages will no longer be updated by the class teachers. This is due to our new learning expectations, which include a daily Microsoft Teams meeting, 08:45-09:00, to register home learners and prepare them for the day of learning.

To access Teams you need to be logged in to your school email account (Office 365) - for help, click here. Or see the child friendly video for using Office 365 - Outlook email  here.

For help using Teams, click here. Or see the child friendly video tutorial for using Teams  here.

Assessment work

You no longer need to email in evidence of your work on a daily basis - this has been replaced with set pieces of work that will be identified for assessment. Your teachers will tell you which ones these are in the morning Teams meeting and they will be clearly identified on the daily planning.

To send in your assessment piece, you will usually send an email (ideally from your own school account) with a photo or uploaded attachment of the work. Sometimes, assessment may just be to complete a Microsoft Form or to complete a quiz.

Your teachers would love to respond to all of your emails but that is not possible now. If you do not get a response, and you think you should have (i.e. you asked a question that needs a response), please resend the email with, ‘PLEASE RESPOND’ in the email subject line, this will act as a reminder in such busy times.

Teachers will select samples of work from those entered, to build exemplars of work against the set success criteria at differentiated levels (working towards age related expectations, working at expectations and working at greater depth) to reflect a normal classroom. The work selected will remain anonymous and will focus only on the good examples of meeting the success criteria. Pupils (and families) will then be given the opportunity to self-assess their work against the exemplars to judge how well they are doing and pick out some targets to work on in their next assessment piece.

Enjoy the new learning format.

Thursday 21st January

Good morning 3HG.  Happy Thursday!  I'm really sorry that there wasn't a message for you on here yesterday - but it was really lovely to see so many of you during our Teams call yesterday morning.  We nearly had the whole class together!  It was lovely to see so many smiling faces and see the range of interesting things that you wanted to show.  I still can't get over how big the tooth was that Arabella showed us!  Lots of you have been sending in work which is brilliant!  Here is a selection of work and an update on activity on the various apps/websites that we use - keep it up children, both Miss Howard and I are really proud of you all!

Well done to the 10 of you who spent some time on Garage on TT Rock Stars yesterday - especially to Toby, Willow, Alvin and Bruno, who all played for at least 10 minutes!  Great stuff!
Well done to the 6 of you who completed some work on Duolingo yesterday - especially Bruno and Willow who completed more than one lesson each!
Well done to the 11 of you who added words to your AR Word Count yesterday - especially Lukas who added a huge 30,290 words!  Brilliant!
Laceigh has enjoyed learning about Van Gogh and has created her own version of some of his work here.  Great effort!
Toby has created a brilliant video as part of this week's Computing - click the picture and then press 'Run' to watch his creation!

FRIDAY 15TH JANUARY

Good morning 3HG - it's Friday!  I was so pleased to receive so many emails yesterday containing your work, or just letting me know how you were getting on.  Today is really exciting as we get the chance to try and all 'meet' together at 10.15 with a Teams call.  Your parents would have received a letter by email explaining all about this, so fingers crossed we'll get the chance to chat later.  I've included a couple of extra photos today as I wasn't able to post any sent in with yesterday's post.  Some of the pictures are the wrong way round - I'm trying to fix that but I wanted to at least have them up rather than not at all :-).

Here is Bella's Reading comprehension work - lovely use of a purple pen to mark your work!

Here is Willow's RE work:

Here is Tallulah's Maths Starter Board from earlier in the week:

Ronnie has been busy learning his spellings:

Lastly. Toby has loved the Computing work this week - here's a picture of his work:

Thursday 14th January

Good morning 3HG, it's Mr Gilbert here!  I hope you are all doing well and starting to get to grips with the home learning.  Miss Howard and I have been so impressed with the work we have received so far - thank you for this!  Miss Howard is going to update this page on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, whilst I will update this page on Thursdays and Fridays.  Please remember this when emailing your work in so that we can include your work when uploading it to the website - if in doubt, just email both of us :-).  Remember, my email address is ngilbert@chesswood.w-sussex.sch.uk.

I've been keeping track of all the hard work you have been putting into TT Rock Stars, Duolingo, IXL, Numbots, AR etc.  This grid below shows that Hayden, Willow, Arabella, Anoushka, Alvin and Toby all completed their daily 10 minutes on Garage.  Lukas was only 1 minute away from completing, and Carter and Bella completed some games too.  Well done all of you!

Well done to Willow, Toby and Ronnie for their hard work on Duolingo yesterday.  4 lessons in one day Willow - that's very impressive!

Lastly, a big shout out to Gabriela and Lukas, who each completed over 30 minutes on IXL yesterday!  Fantastic effort, very well done!

Have an amazing day of home learning - I look forward to seeing all of your amazing work.  I'll write a message to you again tomorrow and include a selection of photos that I receive.  Take care!

Tuesday 12th January 2021

Good morning 3HG,

How are we all this morning? I hope we are all doing ok. How are you finding the home learning? Are you taking part in any of the Joe Wicks workouts? I must admit that I don't do as much exercise now as I should be doing - it's so hard when it's miserable outside. I need you to motivate me by sending me in any photographs or videos of you doing anything active at home. Have you got any great ideas to get me a little healthier?

You can watch Joe Wicks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays live at 9am on YouTube from January 11.

Mr. Gilbert and I would really like to see, and share, your work but unfortunately, I haven't received anything today! Please do email me if you don't know how to do this.

I hope to hear from you with some tips/video/photographs to help me become more motivated. ðŸ˜„

Have a lovely day and remember...
