4JD - Hazel

Tuesday 31st march

Good afternoon 4JD,

How have you all been getting on with your learning today? This morning we have been focusing on maths and English and will focus on French and history in the afternoon. I've loved seeing your examples of work completed at home - please do keep sending these over.

Just as a reminder, Wednesday is my allocated rest day. Any emails that you send me will be responded to on Thursday morning. I've just completed the Top Tens for the 23rd to 29th of March and I have posted these below. It's amazing to see how many of you have been taking quiz's on AR, smashing soundcheck on TT Rockstars and practising skills on IXL. Keep up the good work everyone! I'm noticing that there are a few of you yet to complete a quiz on AR. Remember, you can complete quiz's at home now during school hours (08:45-15:15). Please do let me know if you're having any problems logging in.

Other than that, keep working hard and remember to take regular breaks. I'm so proud that lots of you are engaging with the home learning so meaningfully, even though I'm not there to support you.

Best wishes,

Mr Davis

Clara is at it again! This time, with an amazing collage. Good work Clara!

Khier has been practising his spellings and written methods. Perfect presentation!

Monday 30th March

Good morning everyone,

Congratulations on making it to Week 2 of home learning! I spent the weekend reading books in my garden, going on bike rides and playing boardgames with my family. What did you do to rest and recuperate?

In school today, we have already practised our written methods, recapped place value in maths, read up to chapter six and inferred about charters' thoughts and feelings. After P.E. this afternoon, we'll be having a go at the science task. How have you all been getting on?

Understandably, many of you will be feeling anxious about what is going on in the world at the moment. At school, before home time, we have been watching Newsround to keep informed. Please let me know if you're doing the same!

Remember, if you are having any problems with the learning or any wishes going forward, please do send me an email! Mr Quick and Miss Cossins take my class for an hour every afternoon so I have plenty of time to help you.

Best wishes,

Mr Davis

After completing the science task, Clara made this poster. Keep up the good work!

After finishing his punishment advert, Isaac had his mum video him presenting it. What a good idea!

Friday 27th March

Good morning everyone!

We're now into our fifth day of home learning. I can honestly say that I'm amazed by how many incredible tasks have been completed already. It must be difficult without me there to support you, but I'm very impressed by everybody's hard work and perseverance.

As a reminder, Charlie the dog is making a video every evening to celebrate the best home learning in the school. Have a listen to who he's shouting out today!

I'm planning on announcing the Top Tens on Monday to celebrate those of you who have been practising the most on AR, TT Rockstars and IXL. Today, Saturday and Sunday are your last chance to make a difference to your ranking!

I'd also like to say that if you have any questions or problems relating to the work, don't hesitate to send me an email. I'm busy teaching during the day but I'm allocated an hour in the afternoon to respond to emails and help you with your learning.

Best wishes,

Mr Davis

How has everyone been getting on with today's writing task? Arthur has done an amazing job advertising the Chapman Spike Ball! Remember to check that your advertisement has:

  • A catchy name
  • Adjectives
  • Imperative verbs
  • Alliteration
  • Rhetorical questions

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was really moved to hear about how Niah went to the park with her mother and met a lady feeding the crows. They were inspired by this and wrote this incredible poem. Good to see you putting your poetry knowledge to good use Niah!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Khier has been showing off his dance moves and practising his times tables on Supermovers! Has anybody else had a go? They have videos for every times table.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------           This afternoon Xavi finished off his advertisment! Please do keep sending in your examples - they're looking great!

Thursday 27th March

Bonjour la classe de 4JD- Class and home learners alike.

Mrs Button here. Mr Davis suggested I might like to say 'Hello', so here I am. I have been looking at the school's web pages and am amazed by what's being achieved. It's great to see a range of different subjects being covered with enthusiasm, perseverance and a smile.

What a creative way of decorating your garden panels, using Abstract art, Isaac. I am very impressed! Surely, this is the first piece to 'hang' in a 4JD Art Gallery? Whose will be the next, I wonder?

Also, I love puzzles of any type and I must admit I thought of this as a Maths' problem. I counted the number of different polygons within it. How many do you think they are? I'm sure Mr. Davies could give out house points here, if you emailed him an answer!

I expect you're all working hard at TT Rockstars and increasing your word counts, at this time. Where is the most unusual place you have been reading?

So, keep up your brilliant work, 4JD. I look forward to seeing what you're doing next.

au revoir,

Madame Button

I had this great photo of Frank sent in this morning. He has clearly been busy with his reading and spellings!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isaac is at it again! This time with an amazing experiment.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Poppy has sketched out this fantastic fox. This is far better than the one I attempted in class!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clara has been thoroughly enjoying learning about time. This is a skill that will come in useful for years to come!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are a collection of amazing videos from our science experiment yesterday. Surely a 4JD band should be started once you all return to school!

Wednesday 25th March

Good morning everyone!

I've just had a wonderful morning teaching a small class about time and advertisements! I really think that we're starting to grasp both topics and we've been practising the relevant skills on IXL too. How have you been getting on?

Over the past 24-hours, I have been inundated by emails showing me all the wonderful home learning that has been going on! We will probably all have less energy than we did on Monday, so make sure you are taking regular breaks and getting outside in the sunshine if you can.

Below, you can see just a snippet of what you have all achieved. You're all doing an excellent job at home - come on 4JD!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Niah has been busy practising her spellings and checking these in a dictionary - keep it up Niah!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isaac spent a great deal of time making this absolutely incredible work of art. Has the Tate Modern got any space?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At first Sam was finding converting between 12- and 24-hour time difficult. Despite this, he persevered and is now feeling confident with this topic. Great work Sam!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It looks as though Josh has had an exceptionally productive time at home. Keep up the good work!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TUESDAY 24TH MARCH

Good morning home learners!

I've already been hearing about all the amazing tasks you've been completing at home. I know that Arthur has been hard at work on TT Rockstars and Sam has been spending lots of time on IXL. If you have been doing any tasks, please send them to me! I don't have any photos for this page yet, despite the fact I know how hard you have all been working.

This morning I am back in class teaching a mixture of Year 4 classes. We'll be doing exactly the same activities as you are at home so I will be able to  help you if you have any questions.

I know I mentioned this yesterday, but setting up a work station really does help! You could even make an office sign and have a pot for your stationary. Taking regular breaks is also extremely important - otherwise you will be unproductive and unable to make the most of your time.

It's day two and you have been doing an AMAZING job! Keep up the good work and let me know if you have any issues.

Best wishes,

Mr D

Freddie loved the writing task from today's daily learning plan! How did the rest of you get on with your learning at home? Please email me updates and photos of what you have been doing today!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have just updated our AR Word Count Tree! Can you see how many words you have read since September? Remember you should be reading everyday and taking AR quizzes from home. Let's get you flying up that tree!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Khier has been hard at work following the daily learning plan! Her he is having a go at today's maths. Keep sending in photos of your home learning - it's great to see what you have achieved already.

MONDAY 23RD MARCH

Good morning 4JD,

Mr Davis here. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are looking forward to starting your learning at home! The Y4 teachers and I have been working hard to make lots of fun activities for you to have a go at from home. I'd love to see photos/ videos of you doing these as well as the tasks you have completed at home.

When I work from home, I find that it is very helpful to make a learning station. I also make a daily timetable to organise my day and ensure that I take regular breaks! Mr Quick has included some PE activities on our daily learning plan that are just as important as doing the maths and English tasks.

Your first task is to get your learning book ready. Spend some time decorating your cover and email me a photo of how wonderful it looks. This will give you pride in your home learning and set you up for a productive time at home.

Although you are not at school, I still expect you to write the data and WALT as well as underlining these with a pencil and ruler. I won't be able to do my usual quality checks on your work, so please make sure you take pride in your presentation! This might be difficult without squared maths paper, but try your best - that's all I could ever ask for.

I am thoroughly looking forward to hearing from you and seeing all of the amazing things you've been doing at home. Please email me with any questions, updates, photos and videos and I will upload these to this page.

All the best,

Mr Davis
