New Daily Teams Meetings

Class pages will no longer be updated by the class teachers. This is due to our new learning expectations, which include a daily Microsoft Teams meeting, 08:45-09:00, to register home learners and prepare them for the day of learning.

To access Teams you need to be logged in to your school email account (Office 365) - for help, click here. Or see the child friendly video for using Office 365 - Outlook email  here.

For help using Teams, click here. Or see the child friendly video tutorial for using Teams  here.

Assessment work

You no longer need to email in evidence of your work on a daily basis - this has been replaced with set pieces of work that will be identified for assessment. Your teachers will tell you which ones these are in the morning Teams meeting and they will be clearly identified on the daily planning.

To send in your assessment piece, you will usually send an email (ideally from your own school account) with a photo or uploaded attachment of the work. Sometimes, assessment may just be to complete a Microsoft Form or to complete a quiz.

Your teachers would love to respond to all of your emails but that is not possible now. If you do not get a response, and you think you should have (i.e. you asked a question that needs a response), please resend the email with, ‘PLEASE RESPOND’ in the email subject line, this will act as a reminder in such busy times.

Teachers will select samples of work from those entered, to build exemplars of work against the set success criteria at differentiated levels (working towards age related expectations, working at expectations and working at greater depth) to reflect a normal classroom. The work selected will remain anonymous and will focus only on the good examples of meeting the success criteria. Pupils (and families) will then be given the opportunity to self-assess their work against the exemplars to judge how well they are doing and pick out some targets to work on in their next assessment piece.

Enjoy the new learning format.

Good Morning 5KM! How are you all this morning? Take a look below at the brilliant work we are now getting in! Remember all you need to do is email me a copy of your work and I can pop it up here for us all to be impressed by!

I got an email this morning to help with one of the Maths questions. Remember I am here to help! If you're not sure, you only have to ask and I will make sure help is on it's way :)

I hope you have a great day.

Miss Maskell

Good Afternoon. I hope you are all well and have had a lovely weekend!

It's time to get back to the home learning and you've got some great things coming your way. I am excited to see all your work.

Please remember to send me your home learning at least twice a week, I do like to see what you have been up to and Last week I loved reading the biographies you made.

I hope you all have a great day!

Miss Maskell

Louis has sent in this great clip of his Science experiment last week!

15.01.20

Good morning 5KM!

I just want to say well done for completing another week of home learning. I am proud of you all for being independent and working hard.

I hope you are all looking forward to the video call with the class today (I know the children in class are very excited!). Unfortunately, I am unable to join today due to a flat tyre stopping me coming into school :( but Miss Althorp will be running it and she cannot wait to see you all again. She will also be feeding back to me about how it all goes :)

I look forward to seeing some more work sent ot me today.

Keep up all the great work 5KM!

Miss Maskell

I received an email from Landon yesterday! He has been reading a lot and even got 10/10 ona quiz! Well done Landon.

Ben has been working hard on his biography all about Michael Rashford. I cannot wait to read the full thing once it has been finished.

13.01.20

Good afternoon!

I hope you are all doing well. I wasn't in school yesterday, hence the lack of message. I was disappointed to see only three of you have sent me any work that you have been doing at home. I would love to see some work over the next few days, especially as our classroom display is looking rather bare.

I hope you have had a great day and I look forward to hearing from more of you soon.

All he best,

Miss Maskell

Here we have Zach playing basketball. Great to see you keeping up with the PE challenge set by Mr Quick and Mr Haggart!

Louis has sent in a great picture of his home learning book from home! Great to see that you've not forgotten about your presentation.

Finally we have Ben. He has sent in his biography and I am so glad to see how proud you are of it! Keep up all the great work!

11.01.20

Good morning 5KM!

How are we all? I hope you had a well rested weekend ready for this week.

I must say school is feeling a little strange not having you all in. I am out of class planning the home learning for you at home and Miss Althorpe is in teaching our bubble. In our classroom we have a couple of new displays, where your work will feature!

If you are proud of your work or just want to check in, please do feel free to email me (kmaskell@chesswood.w-sussex.sch.uk) so I can take a look and perhaps even put your work up on our class page and displays for everyone to see! Wouldn't that be exciting.

Most morning, although not all, I will be posting on here for you to take a read and hopefully still help you to feel part of our class and our community :)

If I don't hear from you today - enjoy it! We'll speak soon.

Miss Maskell  :)
