Compliance
Introduction
Chesswood Junior School is a Local Authority School. Its Governors and school leaders are responsible for complying with a wide range of statutory guidance and it is held to account for that compliance typically by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) and West Sussex County Council.
The Department for Education state:
Statutory guidance sets out what schools and local authorities must do to comply with the law. You should follow the guidance unless you have a very good reason not to.
There is some guidance that you must follow without exception. In these cases we make this clear in the guidance document itself.
This purpose of this page is to set out the links statutory expectations, where
1. They are expected to be published online
2. We have content included within the school website linked to a statutory duty
3. A statutory policy is required
Given the breadth of statutory duties placed on schools the list below is not exhaustive. The school maintains a separate database of statutory expectations placed on it that is routinely monitored and updated for compliance.
