English Curriculum Celebration
Year 6 wonder topic
We love starting the year off with Wonder as it sets the tone beautifully for discussions on coping with a range of challenges in school. The themes of friendship, kindness and self-belief are explored through two tasks: #
The first is a diary entry from the perspective of Jack Will, Charlotte or Julian on the day that August gets his tour around Beecher Prep.
We love how Layla-Grace inferred how Julian might be treated and also behave, at home.
Skye did a wonderful job to balance her narrative and diary skills in a similar style to Wonder and other texts we explored.
The second task is a letter of apology from Jack Will for punching Julian.
Well done to Ava for using excellent examples punctuation we are exploring in year 6. Her use of semi-colons, to link related clauses, and parenthesis, to add additional information through a relative clause, help to vary her clause structure and make the writing more cohesive.
