Notice for mario land Movers

On Friday 17th June (this Friday) it is the school Summer Fair. On the schedule, I have asked you to be picked up at 4:30. I have changed this to 4pm on this day to give you enough time to get ready for the start of the fair.

Mario Land Movers

Rehearsal Friday 17th June

Will now be finished at 4pm (instead of 4:30!)

Costume information

Costume information was sent out a few weeks back via Schoolsbuddy. Hopefully there are no surprises and I would hate to think of anyone in a mad panic or buying items. I've tried to keep it really simple and I might be able to help - just ask. Many costumes have been made or are being provided. Here is the information again.

The children in this group are Mario Land Movers in the first half of the show and Pokemon characters in the second half. As a Mario Land Mover, the children can wear bright, fun clothes or anything that references Mario. Pokemon characters are a bit trickier. There are so many characters to choose from and I don’t mind which character your child would like to be. We might end up with 20 Pikachus on stage, and that’s fine. A suggestion of a Pokemon character is also fine – a tail or some ears. Face paints could suggest the rest. Costumes are expensive to buy so creativity is the key.

We have the ears and tails! Little brown monkeys are preferable, but white, orange, black and other monkey colours are also fine. A T-shirt and leggings or a T-shirt and shorts/tracksuit bottoms in a mixture of monkey colours or one monkey colour. The ears and tails are brown. Please note, the tail will be attached to the T-shirt and I’ll be worried that some damage might occur. Older clothes would be best – not brand new!

Red colours please. A red T-shirt with black shorts/leggings/bottoms would be great. The children will have a tabard to wear over the top with an Angry Bird face on. We are making these.

As the Angry Birds, but please change red to green.

The children in this group are carrying in the vehicles for the Crossy Road sequence in the first half and are then either Plants and/or Zombies in the second half. We will supply costumes for these characters. You only need to supply something to wear under the costume – preferably something plain and dark in colour. If your child is a plant, and they should know once we have rehearsed this scene, then perhaps something green might look good.

The children in this group are Dotty Dancers in the first half and will get eaten by Pacman. They are then Fortnite characters in the second half. As a Dotty Dancer, anything dotty would look great. However, something plain with a dot pinned to it would be just as effective. The children will be holding onto a ‘dot’ (a ball). As a Fortnite character, the children can be as creative as they wish. A suggestion of their favourite Fortnite character or maybe a mask and a prop such as nerf gun (no bullets!) Be careful with masks that cover the entire face – we want to see the children and they want to see where they are going!

Costumes need to be in school during the week beginning the 27th June and no later than Thursday 30th June. There is a DRESS REHEARSAL and performance on Friday 1st July!

Please place costumes in a labelled durable bag with your child’s full name, character and class. All clothing must be labelled clearly.

Johnny Cossins

Please can your child bring costumes to the music room.

Costumes will be left in school during performance week and can be taken home after your child’s final performance.

27th May (Update)

* Rehearsals are going SO well. I couldn't be happier. We've had so much fun. We have now run through the whole show and blocked all scenes. We have yet to rehearse the Fortnite dance, finish the Mario Land scene, the Crossy Road scene and the scene when the Monkeys attack the Newsreader and Chief Wiggum. But there's still time.

* A description of costume ideas went out on Schoolsbuddy. Please let me know if there are any problems.

* Tickets go on sale soon - and remember, show week begins the 4th July.

Please note: after half-term rehearsals finish at 4:30 not 4:15.

Just a reminder:

Monday 6th June - All Angry Birds and Pigs needed

Tuesday 7th June - All Monkeys are needed

Thursday 9th June - All Crossy Road Movers are needed

Friday 10th June - All Fortnite dancers

29th April (update)

Week one complete

Thank you to all children who have taken part in rehearsals this week. It's been busy!! We have managed to complete Scene 2 and 3, about a third of the Mario Land sequence and set out the movement for the Angry Birds and Green Pigs battle in Scene 2. Well done!!

To help the Green pigs and Angry Birds to remember the sequence from this afternoon, here it is.

Angry Birds fly in with Red and the other birds when the game is played. Fill the stage and find gaps. React to everything that is being said. After a while, the Green Pigs enter with Leonard, their leader, holding the birds' eggs. Pigs march Stage Left, birds flutter Stage Right (nearest the Music Room). React to everything being said. Pigs grunt, birds tweet. You do not like each other!

When the music starts, take your time to get into position. Group 1 take your boxes and create this position:

Birds get ready to aim and fire from the catapult. Always dancing and moving to the music. Birds cheer if the boxes are hit! Group 2 then get ready and make this position:

There is then a middle section when the birds have had enough and demand to have their eggs back. Find your partner (bird and pig) and try and grab your egg. You are unsuccessful. Be silly and pull faces at each other if you like. After only a short time, get ready to fire the catapult again. Group 3 position:

 And finally Group 4 position:

But remember to take your time, have fun, try not to be too loud, or the audience will not hear the music. The boxes will be Stage Left and offstage at the beginning of the show. At the end of the scene, birds and pigs exit either side. The backstage crew will pick up the boxes after you have left.

Next week, Scene 1 and 4. It would be good to meet the Marioland Movers again at lunchtime - probably Tuesday. I'll send a message round. Monkeys get ready...

Auditions for SPEAKING PARTS are now complete. The children were absolutely incredible.

WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

All children had the opportunity to audition and if they missed auditioning with their class, were invited to come along at lunchtime. Here is a snapshot.

The children have been told whether they have been offered a speaking part. Apart from the 4 leads, all children can sign up to additional clubs, but they might be expected to give up one or two sessions and come along to rehearsal instead on the days stated in the Rehearsal Schedule. Click on the image below for the entire rehearsal schedule.

ALL children can be in JUMANJI!!

All other parts are non-speaking, but all children get to shine and have a silly dance or two to learn. Children will get to choose from the following:

Leonard's band of naughty pigs. They have stolen the Angry Bird's eggs. They want to stay in Worthing forever and try to stop the children playing the game.

As it states - these are angry birds! They have a 'dance off' battle with the Green Pigs.

In the first half, the Crossy Road vehicles try to knock down Mr Jolley. In the second half, the Plants and Zombies have a big battle.

IN the first half, the Mario Land movers recreate the scene for the Mario characters as they try to find the Lost Mushroom. In the second half, the Pokemon have a dance and Pikachu evolves.

In the first half, the Dotty Dancers dance and get eaten by PacMan. IN the second half, the dance as Fortnite characters once they have leapt from the Battle Bus.

These monkeys are part of Donkey Kong's troop of monkeys. They are cheeky and mischievous and pick on Chief Wiggum.

Children simply tell me what they would like to be and then come along to rehearse on the dates stated in the Rehearsal Schedule. Children MUST attend rehearsals. It goes without saying that if they do not attend rehearsals, they will not know what to do.

Hope this all makes sense.

Any problems, please ask.

- taking place from week beginning March 14th during the school day

- you do not to print anything for your audition, I will have copies

- you do not to memorise anything for your audition!

- if you want a speaking part, you must audition and show me what you can do!

- if you would like to audition, I suggest you pick one or two characters to audition for - you do not need to audition for everything.

The Cast List is attached below. There are many speaking parts and many characters! You do not have to audition for a non-speaking part. You just need to tell me what you would like to be, and you're in! You must come to rehearsals though. If you miss rehearsals, you won't know what to do.

If you have a main part, there will be lots or rehearsals. If you have a smaller part, there may be only two or three rehearsals.

Rehearsals are after school but not every night! I will attach a rehearsal schedule once it has been completed, so you know when to rehearse.

Rehearsals start straight after the Easter holiday!

Show week will be the week beginning 4th July.
