MUST - Reading

Must homework is essential to complete each and every week.

Homework is provided in three tiers - each child will only receive the tier that is appropriate to them. Generic wording is included below for information only, it may change over time. Also, each child's assigned tier may change over time, for example, for example, after they have reached 100% of their target, therefore, it is essential that each child opens their assignment to check if there is a different message each week - it also helps us know who has opened the assignments each week.

Watch the video on the Homework page if you are unable to access Microsoft Teams - LINK.

If you would like to know more about how to support your child with their reading, visit our support page - Reading Support at Home Link.

TIER 1

Reading for pleasure.

Please read your reading book with an adult or older sibling.  Please aim to read for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  You may need to take it in turns reading pages, or parts of pages.  Ask for help if you need help sounding out words.  Chat to an adult about what you have read to help you understand what you have read.  Once you have finished the book, you can take an Accelerated Reader quiz in school.  Remember to log your reading in your green or orange reading record (if you have been given one).  Let your teacher know when you are ready to take a quiz and they will help you.  You’ll then be able to change your reading book.  Good luck on trying to make it into this week's Top 10s!

Tier 2

Reading for pleasure.

Please read your reading book either on your own or with an adult or older sibling.  Try to read for 30 minutes on 5 days.  Chat to an adult about what you have read to help you understand the book.  Once you have finished the book, you can take an Accelerated Reader quiz in school.  Remember to log your reading in your orange reading record.  Your goal is to reach 100% of your target before half-term.  Your teacher will be able to tell you your progress.  Good luck on trying to make it into this week's Top 10s!
