School Visits
Chesswood Junior School recognises the value of off-site educational visits and is committed to providing many opportunities for its pupils to enrich their learning through such activities, including day and residential visits.
It is acknowledged that organising and leading offsite activities puts a great deal of responsibility on all involved. It is emphasised that a culture of safety must prevail and there is a clear need for careful planning and an adherence to statutory procedures. Off-site educational visits must be well managed, information communicated and responsibilities recognised. It is also recognised that young people learn to take responsibility for themselves and for others. Teaching and learning about risk, risk-taking and managing risk are likely to help young people develop and become better equipped to assess the dangers and risks they will inevitably face.
We supplement off-site visits with additional guest speakers to school and virtual visits.
