Stranger Danger

Stranger danger is the warning used that all strangers could potentially be dangerous. Although this risk posed by strangers is rare, children need an awareness so they can take necessary steps to protect themselves and keep them safe.

Stranger Danger

**WARNING: This video is suitable for children 8 - 11 but only when watching with an adult. It also includes comments underneath that we can't monitor or disable.

This video shows the dangers of talking to online friends, sending photographs and arranging to meet up with potential strangers. Although in this video the process is obvious and sudden, it can lead to important conversations between families about grooming and how it is often a lot more subtle, over a longer period of time but still with the same outcome.

As with anything disturbing or inappropriate, we would encourage children to talk to a safe adult if they think they are in any danger. In school, children are taught from the outset that if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable, they should talk to their safe adult, whether in school or at home.
