daily welcome - archive

thursday 16th july

Good Morning.  Two more days to go... hang in there, don't stop yet!

Lots more Goodbye & Thank you cards delivered today from our English Writing task not just for me but also Miss Ring & Miss Barnard.  I won't post a picture as these are more personal but they are no less important.  If you send yours and there any things you want me to pass onto them or Miss Gilmore then I will make sure this is done straight away.

I had a message yesterday asking if you can still carry on with your home learning over the summer holidays.  I am pleased to let you know that you will still be able to access these over summer but anything you do will count towards this year’s (Year 3) totals.

Just to confirm this means – IXL, TT, AR quizzing and Duolingo.

Keep up the great work and thank you for your emails so far.

Reading Target

Wow, lots have you have passed your reading target already - great effort goes to:

Louis, Jackson, Ethan, Delilah, Alice, Lacey, Lilah, Frankie, Tia, Emily, Emi, Willow, Taylor, Jacob, Lucy & Max.

If you don't see your name above, you still have time to get yours added.

Keep up the great work.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I hope you remembered to log on and hear the message from your new teacher - Miss Gilmour yesterday.  If not, there are a few tasks that she would like you to complete, so please have a look so that she knows who you are and a little about you - I know that both Alice and Ethan have already sent there's to her, well done to you both.

One last chance to get on those Top 10 lists today or just to have a go at all of them - that would actually make me even prouder.  I know you can do it, go on give it a try.

Another week has rolled by - the weeks are flying by now!

Yes, it's Top 10 day, so by now you should know where to go and have a look!  Don't forget to head over to the Bright Spark page too - it could be you!

I had some more great work in yesterday - have a look at Amelia's time work.  We found this quite tricky in class but we persevered to work out the answers, we even used real clocks!  How did you find it?

So as we finish another week, remember how well you have done in your home learning.  Don't compare yourself to someone else but think about how far you have come since you started Year 3 - you will then feel very proud I'm sure, I know I do!

Have a great weekend and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I have had some lovely pictures in today of some of your work.  I was especially impressed with Louis who took his purse making skills to another level, using a sewing machine to make his grandma a pillow - I hope it is not a secret and that she isn't having a look on here but I really wanted to show you!

Amelia has been designing the new book cover for the Bad Dreams book that we have been doing together:

Wow, its the last day of the month already - where does the time go?

So what did you do yesterday?  In class we spent our time looking at Fairy Tales and the themes that you find in them so that when we are ready to plan our own comic strip we can write / draw a great one.

Amelia is ahead the game, she has beat us to it!

We even tried our hardest to measure and draw lines with a ruler!

Amelia & Alice also did the same as they both told me about or let me see what they had been doing.  How did you get on?

Tomorrow we plan to start out History research but Lucy & Lilah have beat us to that part - see what they have been doing, great job ladies.

I have heard great stories over the weeks about how some of you are teaming up with another friend or relative to do your work together over face time or zoom to encourage and motivate, if you have not tried this maybe you could this week?

This weekend, I was at the beach meeting friends, celebrating another one's birthday, having a BBQ and a Chinese Takeway, then walking along the sand yesterday evening as part of our father's day celebrations - what did you get up to?

Willow and her sister melody have sent in a great video of their work on Forces this week:

So how did you get on yesterday?  In class we had fun learning about prepositions and adjectives, which we had to go over quite a few times because they kept forgetting what they were!

We loved starting to work out what our character and setting was going to be in our story - have you chosen yours yet?

I didn't get many emails in though - Amelia kindly sent me some of her work, ordering those fractions can be quite tricky but looks like she has worked out the answers really well.

Lilah then showed me how well she was doing learning / practising her 3xtables, including using a zoom meeting with her cousin, great job.  Then made me feel hungry with her healthy eating plate after a PE session!

Talking of reading, lots of you have had a great start to the term - check out the TOP 10's to see how well, but particular mention has to go to Frankie who has read so much he has reached this terms target twice already... INCREDIBLE.

Before I go though, have a look at what some others have been doing:  Amelia has not gone hungry! She sent me a picture of herself making lunch - yummy!  I asked for a salad sandwich but one hasn't arrived yet...

Hello! What an incredible day I had yesterday and very surprised to received a few things too.  So for those of you who didn't know (that was me!) yesterday was Teacher Appreciation day and I received the most beautiful bunch flowers from Max (hand picked and delivered to school)..

Then arrived a poster image from more of you with lovely kind words along with a separate one from Rowan - I do miss you really!

Thank you, you made my day.

For those of you who haven't been able to keep up to date with the Chesswood news feed, some of the children and staff at school have also been busy making a banner for your NHS heroes which has now been completed and hanging on the school gates - I thought you might like to see it:

wednesday 20th may

Half way through the week guys and girls.. woo hoo, nearly there!

Great news (well as far as I am concerned), I started learning Python Coding on Code Combat as I wanted one of those certificates that many of you have been sending in but I got stuck on Level 6 and couldn't get by The prisoner!!! I did actually quit a couple of times but then realised that you are allowed to change your character and their weapons (tell me why I should know that!), honestly... still I persevered as I have seen so many of you do these last few weeks and I made it..YESSSSS, no certificate yet but one hurdle down!

So lovely to hear from you again today,  Frankie our resident Joe Wicks has been keeping up with his fitness -

Max, has been asking me for more Coding (Yes you heard it more extra work!) to do in addition to what has been set - he is going to be like a computer genius!

Then I saw a really funny video of Lilah lets say being encouraged by her sister to 'go to school' (in the kitchen / dining room that is), she did produce some excellent original spelling words though..

Then I found out that yesterday Willow quizzed enough books to pass her 100% Reading target ahead of this Friday.  You are all so amazing!

Good morning!  Thank you for tuning into Mrs Lucas' daily ramble...

So, how are we all?

It was so nice to get lots of lovely messages yesterday, showing me your work and just messaging to say hello - do send me some more, it is always great to hear from you.

Amelia was first in with her Maths work - you can see what she was doing on the Maths page.  Then Alice spent her time working with her sister Amy to make us the most amazing Colour Wheel to add to our Art gallery, check this out:

I would love to see some more of you being creative, what have you got in your house / garden that you could use?

I forgot to post something very special yesterday - Lacey showing us all her amazing Spelling skills / practise strategy.. I have not yet had a video of anyone showing me how they practise so was very impressed when this arrived - Awesome job! Keep up the great work - I will be sending this to Chesswood TV to ask if they can include you to showcase your incredible talent.

monday 18th may

Welcome back.. I hope that you have had a great weekend with your families and are making the most of being able to get out and about a bit more.  With the sea front and the hills so close (which you learnt about in Geography) it would be such a shame not to visit them..just remember those 2m!

Lots of you have probably had conversations with you family about returning to school and this may have raised ots of questions - if you do have any then I would love to try and help answer them if I can, you have my email address.

So lots of great things to study this week.  I taught the Art colour wheel in class on Thursday with Jackson,, Tia and Taylor who all happened to be in that day and we got some great results - lets see what you can do  to use/ find.  Here are a couple of examples...

If you really want to get creative then you should take a leaf out of Willow's book - she has been learning her 3 times table..check out the Video on our Maths page, you will be glad that you did!  Also, have a look at all the great plants that you managed to make and some people labelled - you really are very creative, as well as the finished Magic Box poems on our English Writing pages - there are some great new additions to look at.

Congratulations goes to Ethan for completing hos coding and gaining a certificate.  I have signed up for an account now and am going to try and get one.  Unfortunately,  I got to Level 6 and trying to defeat the prisoner but got stuck!! AAHH.... I will not give up - I will get that certificate somehow..watch this space.

We had the nicest email on Friday from Worthing hospital again thanking everyone for their NHS rainbows:

Dear Chesswood Community

This e-mail comes with huge thanks to all of you bright sparks that took the time to make rainbow pictures for The Children's Ward at Worthing Hospital.

All staff and children are utterly delighted with your amazingly beautiful and creative pictures.

We have placed them in our staff room and throughout the ward and make us smile every day.

There is obviously only a very small selection represented in these photos.

You should all be so very proud of yourselves.

Keep Happy and

Keep Safe Bright Sparks

Love All the Bluefin Ward Team xxx 🌈🌈🌈

P.s Happy to receive more Rainbows if there have been any further submissions.

So a huge Thank you and well done everyone who made and sent one in.

I leave you know but hope you can spare 5 minutes to let me know how your weekend was and then to let me know what you have managed to achieve today.

Good morning!

It's only Amelia's birthday...Woo hoo.. happy Birthday to you!  Maybe you could send her birthday wishes, I am sure she would love to hear from you.

So nice to see the sun outside the window again today, hope this is going to set you up with a smile ready for the day ahead... So, today is.....

What does this mean for you?

We are encouraging children that are working from home to dress up as a number and send in photos of them using Maths at home.  We are going to create a fun page for each year group to showcase their creative ideas,  Come on this one is an easy challenge, let's see what you can come up with!  Alternatively, why not reach that IXL or TT Maths goal that you have been aiming for? or see if you can make it to the Top of the Top 10 list this week? You choose.

It was good to hear from some of you yesterday, especially exciting to receive Coding certificates from Alice and Max which have both been added to our wall of fame - go and have a look for yourself.  I haven't had much in the way of Diwali pictures, would love to make the school's RE webpage alive with your creations so far I have had to borrow them from other classes..can you help?

Have I lost some of you?

Yesterday, was quieter than normal on the email and work front but I was very pleased to hear from those who did, showing me work and letting me know what they had been doing over the weekend.

There have been a few boys joining the Scouts for a camping weekend at home - Great work Louis & Frankie, head over to the Children's own fun activities pages to see their pictures - you will want to have joined them though!

Then Frankie & Maaya have now also completed their one hour computer coding and received certificates, our wall of fame is growing quite well! Whilst Lucy cooked an amazing Carbonara for her family - picture evidence can be found on the DT page and Rowan hasn't stopped with his Maths learning!

I have had a message from Mrs Cossins asking me to tell you to have a look on the Music Home Learning pages (the same place you find the class pages) as she has set some exciting new Music work for you to join with..she is even trying to get a virtual choir set up, so if that might interest you, remember to go and have a quick look.

Before you go...

I am missing seeing you faces and thought maybe you could share a pictures of yourself so that we can cheer each other up - what do you think?  Please send a picture to build a class page (with our lock down haircuts or extra growth!)  Although I am sure some of you still look very glamorous....

Hello there and welcome back to another week of fun.

Sorry there was not a message awaiting you this morning - I have not been feeling great today, so have been working from my bed and couldn't reach the computer!  I hope you are all well and have enjoyed the lovely bank holiday weekend, we certainly did, even managed a little celebration with our neighbours, so nice to see some other people!

So come on, back to it - what have you been doing?

I Looking forward to hearing from you.

Mrs Lucas

friday 8th may

Woohoo! Bank holiday time - but also Top 10's as promised.  Head over the the Top 10 page to have a look to see if you have made it onto the list! Congratulations to those who have.

Before you go anywhere... take a look at this weeks Bright Sparks:

Now, just a bit of fun for you, check out Willow's Science Volcano experiment, her look of amazement is priceless and will definitely make you smile!

Oh, before I go, we received a message from the NHS at Worthing hospital to say thank you for all your rainbows and support that you have given:

I know you are all amazing, your adults know you are all amazing and now the NHS know you are all amazing.

Especially proud of everyone today. Keep up the great attitude!

Now go have fun on your 3 day weekend, relax and enjoy the VE day celebrations.

thursday 7th may

So it's officially the last day of your school week before you get to enjoy the Bank Holiday but before you get too excited and sit down and relax, there is still lots you can achieve today!  You might be pleased to hear that I will still be putting up the Top 10's tomorrow, so you still have today to get those last few coins, points and words logged - go on, you know you want to.

I have had lots of great emails from you yesterday so there are quite a few new things to look at in our different subject headings...over on the right hand side of the screen.  Why not have a look then message your friend to let them know how well they have been doing - we all like a bit of encouragement and I am sure they would love to hear from you too.  Check out the DT pages to see Alice and Louis' Healthy Meals which they have planned, prepared and eaten, they look delicious, well done you two.  Has anyone else been brave enough?

Today, you have the opportunity to start prepping for VE day celebrations and I am particularly looking forward to seeing your decorated windows and creative ideas - here is mine to start the ball rolling.  Luke beat us all to it with his inspired 'mini garden' and I have now managed to upload his video on the History page, definitely have a look.  If you decide to celebrate on Friday in some way, then please also take pictures and send them through, it would be great to add out celebrations for all to see.

this week's super reading....

Congratulations to Emily, Amelia & Taylor who all successfully quizzed books yesterday - could you do it today?

You should be at 60% by Friday people....

Good Luck today, remember you are all doing a great job at home, there is always more we could do but make sure that whatever you choose you know you have tried hard to be the best you can be and had fun along the way!

I Looking forward to hearing from you.

Woo hoo!  Just two more days to go this week, yes you heard me..........Friday is a Bank Holiday!  So come on, you can make it.  What can we get up to today?

Now yesterday I told you Max's dad let him cut his hair.  I said he was a 'brave man' and look at the results - awesome work Max! Is it your turn next then?

Max didn't stop there, he took up the challenge set by Emi when she completed her Coding certificate and decided to get his own!  Well done you..that really is trying to be the best that you can be.

Now the skill levels haven't stopped there...

Luke has made his very own VE day mini garden all ready for this Friday's celebrations - it's a very imaginative and thoughtful creation and Alice has been the first person to send me a powerpoint presentation of the Human & Physical Geographical features of Worthing...it is so good and I am going to see if I can get it on Chesswood TV to celebrate with her.... watch this space.  I am also just trying to work out how I can share them both with you...

Willow has been making Vegan brownie's this video will make your mouth water....

Finally, there has been more worry doll making and writing, written methods, Maths work, Art creations, Science experiments, Drusilla's Persusaive letters and even Kasper having some fun at my expense - he led me to believe there was such thing as a Thorn shark! (Check out his research on the Fun activities page.... hmmmm!)

this week's super reading....

Congratulations to Emi, Lacey and Luke who all successfully quizzed books yesterday - could you do it today?

Happy Tuesday Everyone.    Are you starting to feel the struggle of keeping motivated - me too! Don't worry, this is normal but it doesn't mean we have to give in.  We are Chesswood Junior School pupils and we know how to go the Extra Mile and push on to Be the Best that we can be!  Just keep going, do a little bit *even if its not something you like), then try something else, try something new and before you know it you will have achieved much and be super proud that you did.

Talking of which, there has been some great work sent in again yesterday.  Frankie has completed his DT Healthy eating plate (see DT pages), I wonder what he might be planning to cook?  Can't wait to see photo evidence of the finished result.

Max has been carrying on with the Science experiments - making slime! YUK.  You can see the final product on the Science page and his dad even let him cut his hair!!  Brave man - has anyone else been allowed to do this, was it a success or are they in hiding?

Then Emi sent me her Coding certificate - I didn't even know you could get one!  Very impressive work Emi.  Has anyone else achieved one?

monday 4th may - star wars day!!

Welcome back!  I hope you are ready for another amazing opportunity to learn together?  We have some great tasks for you this week - if the Science experiments didn't get you, then maybe this is your chance to show off in the                                                      cooking department!

I have seen some absolutely incredible work from you all over the last few weeks, you should be so proud of yourselves.  In particular, I think the Worry dolls you have made really stand out (have a look at the PSHE and English Writing pages to see what I mean).   On Friday, I had some great Science experiments and videos sent in - please go to the Science page to see what Willow and Ethan have been doing.

Then Willow and her family have spent time playing the hairdryer game - you will love that one.  Check out the video on the 'Children's own fun activities page', such a great idea and fun for all too.. what more could you want?

To top it off not only did Willow also attempt the Maths problem solving questions she made the resources to help her, but Max got his mum involved helping with the Whiterose Maths Friday Challenge - well done mum.  You can see these on the Maths pages...

this week's super reading....

So come on how many books can you read and pass the quiz on this week?

You should be at 60% by Friday people....

friday 1st may

Yayy, it's Friday!  It can only mean one thing - Top 10 day.  I have decided to put them straight onto the Top 10 page...over this way......... so go on, go and check out where you are on the list!

I have also chosen a Bright Spark for this week, so congratulations goes to... (oh no! you need to go to the Bright Spark page now!)

Sorry if I didn't reply to your email straight away yesterday, I was in school helping in Year 3 and 4.  It was so nice to see a few faces from our class too.  No plans to be in again tomorrow, so please email away, especially those of you I haven't heard from in a while.

Yesterday I asked you a question: How have your parents been doing with Home Learning?  I know that lots of them are being super helpful as new teachers but have you set them any challenges like Frankie and Willow have?  I would love to hear if you have.

Good Luck today, remember you are all doing a great job at home, there is always more we could do but make sure that whatever you choose you know you have tried hard to be the best you can be!

I Looking forward to hearing from you.

Mrs Lucas

thursday 30th april

It's the last day of the month today and your last chance to get on those Top 10 lists - so come on what have you got?!

I think I might have overdone the Joe Wicks and the daily running now as have hurt my knee and haven't been able to exercise on it  for about a week - opps!  Then yesterday it was a little quiet too, I didn't have many emails from you - any chance you could send me one today letting me know something about yourself that I might not know or something that maybe you have been doing a bit too much of?

Frankie made me laugh - he has been challenging his parents to complete the same maths questions as him: see his mum in full concentration and then his dad calls him (over the desk) to check his answers....brilliant.

How have your parents been doing?  I know Willow's mum has been joining in with the art and the making of worry dolls, maybe you could let me know?

Good Luck today, remember you are all doing a great job at home, there is always more we could do but make sure that whatever you choose you know you have tried hard to be the best you can be!

super reading....

Congratulations to Louis & Lacey who have both read and quizzed books today - don't forget to take your own AR quizzes.  You should be aiming to be at 40% of your reading target by Friday (more if you can) so if you need a little nudge, this is it!  Good Luck.

wednesday 29th april

Lets start the day by wishing Max a very Happy 8th Birthday!!  Enjoy celebrating with your family - we hope it full of lots of great surprises and of course cake!  Let us know all that happened tomorrow....

The rest of the class its down to business for you! (hehe)

Lots of you have been inspired by the Science experiments this week:  Have a look at Willow and her sister making a lung / diaphragm... before heading over to the Science page to see Louis and his sisters Honeycomb.  Having seen his post my family had a go at this one too - an experiment and something to eat - can't go wrong!

Looks like Alice has inspired your Worry doll making too - head to the PSHE page for Willow's version, I am sure you will agree it is pretty awesome.

Whilst Frankie's computing has encouraged Willow to have a go too.. so nice to see how your are inspiring one another.

Whilst Juliette sent me a lovely surprise, very kind...

Welcome to a wet and windy Tuesday- who cancelled the sun?

Oh well, looks like you will have to get into that thing we are calling home learning!  Good job we have lots planned for you so that you don't get bored...

Yesterday, I mentioned that this week we are going to looking at making worry dolls in PSHE and linking this with our English writing and Alice has been so inspired by this that she has already made her own version using a sewing kit that she has been meaning to use - what a great use of resources.  I am sure you will be as impressed as I was with the results too.

Computing: A few of you have also been trying out the Touch typing I know that Maaya and Frankie have done so and although it is a little hard to begin with a bit of patience and perseverance goes a long way as you will see from Frankie's picture and video  below.  It's not all work though, check out the Children's fun activities page where you can see what else he has been doing.

Rowan has successfully managed to master adding fractions using the Whiterose resources and planning from yesterdays lessons - if you need any help I suggest you check out our Maths page to have a look or send him an email! Great work Rowan.

Lastly, our very own Joe Wicks has taken to his garden for a PE session - Well done Louis, very impressive.  Personally, I would still be hanging there!

Good Morning! Welcome to Week 4...  I hope you have had an enjoyable weekend with your families but now for a bit more learning!

Meanwhile, Willow has been relaxing with her sister doing yoga - maybe you could have a try this week?  She needed to after giving the Whiterose family Maths challenge on Friday (see maths page)  Great work team.

and Louis has been using his artistic skills creating masterpieces from within the garden..

I have been sent lots of great snail stories this week, I have added Lucy's to our English writing page but special mention goes to Amelia who decided she would rather write one about woodlice... along with some great Fact sheets for History (see History page) - great work Ethan & Alice.  Anymore out there?

Also, I wanted to show you Max's grafitti spelling wall he drew to practise his spellings with - such a great idea and lots of fun I think.

This week we are going to looking at making worry dolls in PSHE and linking this with our English writing, so get your creative juices flowing and lets make some great figures....can't wait to see yours.

Hey Hey another day for you to achieve something amazing!

Lots of you have been inspired by 'The River' collage, so I have started to set up our very own art gallery - head over to the Art page on the right to check them out!

I have heard from Luke today you should see what he has been doing in Science... if you want to find out you will either have to email him or head to our Science page for a sneak peek!

wednesday 22nd april

Welcome back! We have another wonderful day ahead of us so lets make the most of it,

As you can see I've left Lilah's rainbow out - I thought it could be our little class logo and hopefully make us smile knowing that we are being thought about.

I have an update concerning Max's Bug Tank - the hissing cockroaches have arrived, check these out....

Lots of you have been inspired by 'The River' collage - to give you a taste of the amazing talent we have in our class, have a look at what Willow and Alice along with her sister Amy have created.

I have also seen evidence of Lilah putting her DT skills to good use, chopping and grating the ingredients for her pizza.  Check out the finished product on our DT page to the right.

Whilst Ayra has been busy learning about volcanoes and has written us a great fact sheet showing what she has found out in her research.. I've added this to our Geography page for see.

Lastly, Rowan has shown great perseverance with his Maths work.  Equivalent fractions are not the easiest of subjects to learn, so I am very proud of you.  I have put a copy of his work on the Maths page, if you haven't tried yet then maybe you could magpie some ideas.

 SUPER READING!

Congratulations to Frankie, Lilah and Luke who have all passed quizzes today - can you join them?

remember to email me - i Can't wait to hear from you.

tuesday 21st april

Good morning, you lovely people.  Welcome back to another day at Home School!  I imagine yesterday for most was quite hard going, trying to get back into the swing of things after a nice break but come on we can do this!

Look what Lilah has made us all when she was out and about for her daily exercise... our very own Rainbow of Hope!  so lovely, thank you for thinking of us and showing your Courtesy, Care and Kindness.

Max has been a busy boy over the holidays making a BUG Tank!  All I can say is that I am glad they are at his house with a lid on!  I knew some of you would be rather impressed so take a look....if you want to find out what is inside maybe send him an email to ask?

Finally,  I have been trying out 'The River' art collage on my husband, Saxon and Cadel.  Look how hard they are working to make their backgrounds.  The outcomes are quite different but we had a hunt around the house and used what we could find.  I hope yours are coming along nicely - can't wait to see your finished results at the end of the week.

 SUPER READING!

So how many books have you been reading?  Lets see how many you can remember to quiz this week.  We don't want to lose our top spot now!

Congratulations to Alice, Emi, Lilah, Louis and Juliette who have all set the bar high passing quizzes today - can you beat them?

monday 20th april

Hurrah! Welcome back Alder Class.  I have missed hearing from you all over the Easter holidays so really hope that you have made the most of the holiday period and are now ready to restart your Home Learning again.  We have some great things planned for this week including being able to make a River Collage (remember we watched the story in the last week of term?!) and a researching / making a Stone Age Fact sheet / poster which we are going to make into a class gallery!  Can't wait!  I might even have a go myself....

Firstly, I had better announce:

the winner of our 'most unusual sporting activity being played' competition:

50HP goes to...... Louis and his sister for their Yoga class (I hope you are both very relaxed!)  Well done to all who took part.

Please send me an email to let me know what you have been doing over the holidays, then go to our RE page as Ayra has written to tell us all about Ramadan and how she celebrates this with her family.

friday 3rd april

now for the winner of our reading in an unusual location competition:

It's Alice!! Well done to you - I am not sure it is tenting weather but love the fact that you set up camp anyway!  50HP.

new competition:

thursday 2nd april

Good morning!

I have just found out it is Lucy's birthday - SO FROM ALL OF US - HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCY!!!!

So how many of you were the subject of a April fool yesterday?  Thankfully all safe in our house, with no-one thinking of any jokes to play but if did please let me know.

Looks like the sun is going to be out so hopefully you can get some fresh air and maybe some exercise with your family today maybe you could find yourself an unusual location to read in to add to our ever growing picture competition?

So far Frankie has been seen sitting in his garden, Lilah has been seen on the stairs, I've been on the trampoline and my youngest Cadel even sat in the cupboard!  Whilst Max and his dad have transformed a massage table, Alice found herself a den in a tent, whilst Emily stayed in bed!... Can you show me any more unusual locations?

Don't forget to today is your last chance to gain a few extra points on TT, master a few levels on IXL or to add those words when taking an AR quiz in order to get on our Top 10's, lets see if you can have more children on the list than last week! Apparently, there is also a new Duolingo Top 10 list too - so good luck!

I haven't seen many cubes or RE storyboards to add to these subject pages this week.  We have had some excellent examples already, can you rise to the challenge and improve on the ones we have already?  I did get lots of emails from you though - but have you sent one to a friend in the class yet? I am sure they would love to hear from you.

Lastly, be great to hear your ideas for another class competition we could run and send photos of in - I look forward to hearing what we could do..

wednesday 1st april

New month - no April fooling people please!

So how have you been getting on with your learning?  I had quite a few emails yesterday from our class, nice to hear from those of you who had been a bit quiet until then so thank you for showing me your work and sending me an overview of what you have been doing.  It's your spelling test today - Good Luck!

Just in case you missed Maaya's great question from yesterday I am going to leave it hear for today too:

I have had a great question asked by Maaya concerning sending in work and how to get the house points allocated on the home learning sheet.  I think the best way forward would be to do the following (If you can) send me an email daily listing what you have managed to complete / had fun doing that day.  If you would like me to look at anything in particular or want to show me something you are proud of then also send me pictures - no need to show me a picture of everything.  Once you complete the Home learning task in full - you can allocate yourself the house-points (no need to wait for me!)- I would keep a log of these inside your front cover, so that they are easier to add up when you come back to school.

Maays's mum has found an even easier way  since asking - printing off the daily home learning sheet and highlighting what has been completed, then sending me a copy at the end of the day.  Maybe you would like to magpie this idea?

Hope that helps to clarify.

tuesday 31st march

Good Morning!

Bit of a later start for me today, only at the computer though as have already had to complete my daily Joe Wicks PE lesson - have you?

I hope you enjoyed your message from Miss Ring yesterday - looks like she can bake / cook really well, so delicious.  If you missed it remember to check out our daily welcome archive page on the right.

So I thought I would join in our reading from unusual locations challenge - my my new pictures below.  Can you get find any more unusual locations?

So far Frankie has been seen sitting in his garden, Lilah has been seen on the stairs...

I have also been getting so much work from you that it is getting really hard to keep up with all my other work.  For this reason I won't be able to put everything up on the website that you send through to me, but I will of course be reading and making a log of what you have been up to so that I don't forget.  I will also use this when making a decision about how to award the weekly bright spark too.

Lastly, Congratulations goes to Lucy - winner of our decorating the front cover of the home learning book who has just earnt herself 50HP and some chocolate which we will be delivering to her!

Here is her winning masterpiece...

Don't forget - Mr Gilbert sent the following message last week but I have only heard from a handful of children, if you haven't yet sent me a message can I ask you to do so please?

yesterdays SUPER READING!

Well done to Louis, Alice & Lilah who all read and quizzed a book each - great work.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Hello children.  You should all be familiar with your own individual school email accounts – you have practised using these at school during Computing sessions.  You may not remember how to use these – Mr Miller has written some helpful guidance for you.  Click the image below to see the guidance.  Following this guidance, please ensure by the end of the week (Friday 3.15pm) you have emailed your class teacher – even if it’s just to say hello.  This will help tell us who is reading these pages and knows how to use their email.  Emails are a great way for you to speak with other children and your teacher.  If you get stuck, use the year group support email on the Year X Daily Learning page.  We look forward to hearing from you!

monday 30th march

Over the weekend I have had to resort on wii bowling with the family - I am not that great but always have a go! I also started PE with Joe Wicks (not sure a photo of this would be suitable - might make you laugh too much and went for a run, question is can I keep it up?  I will let you know!

TOP TEN DAY!!!

Good morning, so you have nearly made it through one week of home learning, that is something to celebrate- well done everyone - remember just do what you can and try your best.

So lots to celebrate today - please head over to the Top 10s tab in the blue box on the right hand side to see if you have made the list!  You will also find a breakdown of the minimum number of skills you each need to master each week from your class target cards, as well as who has managed to get the highly sought after 100HP for reaching your personal reading target.

I am so proud of all the effort that many of you have been putting in this week, I know it hasn't been easy for you or your families - now it's the weekend have some fun-just like Lilah has been doing this week, check out her Fairy house! 25HP.

thursday 26th march

Good Morning 3ML!

I have had so much work come through that we have changed the website to fit it all on! If you look over to the right, there is a title called 'Also in this section' - it then has a list of all of our subjects plus competitions and Top Tens - I will be printing them off first thing in the morning! From today onwards, all the work that goes up will be going into each subject area. So, if you send me in some map work, it will go under 'Geography'. If you send me in a skeleton diagram, it will go under 'Science'. Make sure to check it out and see how the rest of our class are doing. I'm really enjoying all the photos you've been sending in so please don't stop!

Your school emails should be up and running and there is an update from Mr Gilbert below as to how to use them. Any issues, message me and I will try and sort it out. Have a fantastic day 3ML, you are all doing so well and I am so very proud of all of you. Oh, one more thing...Star of the Week will be happening tomorrow so if there is anything you are particularly proud of then please send it in.

wednesday 25th march

It's another beautiful day outside, so lets start the day with a huge smile on our faces and be thankful that we have the opportunity to join in the fun learning and get creative with our responses!

You guys are doing so well  I can't believe how many emails and pictures I have had already so keep going!  I hear that Mr Gilbert is trying to beat our AR Word count and knock us off the top spot, so please keep reading and quizzing, you have worked so hard to get there.

Just in case you had forgotten, I will be printing off the Top 10's on Friday morning and as usual celebrating with all of you awarding house points for your positions and effort.  In the meantime don't forgot to send me pictures of your decorated front covers and pictures of unusual reading places!

Today, I have already heard from Ayra, Alice, Max and Maaya - some just sending me lovely messages others showing me their great work, I would love to hear from more of you.  Yesterday, I sent each of you a message to your @chesswood.org.uk email address so if you get a chance maybe reply to me, like in our computing lessons.

tuesday 24th march

Good Morning! I hope you have woken up and are ready for another exciting day of learning?  If you feel a little reluctant then don't forget you can jump into action from 9am with Joe Wicks body coach on his live stream - we will be getting put through the same with our very own Mr Quick and Mr Haggart!

Lots of you have been starting to send me messages, it's so lovely to hear from you, I especially love seeing all your great work so am hoping to get some more in today which I can share with the class.

Monday 23rd March

Hello 3ML - I haven't forgotten you!

Mrs Lucas here... school is very quiet without you all in class, but after a lovely weekend we are working away through our home learning as I hope you are too?  We have spent a lot of time prepping activities and I'd love to see photos/videos of you taking part in these learning activities. I'd also love to see your set up at home - will you make a timetable like ours in class?! This will help to keep your day structured and stop those of you who get distracted from playing all day! :D Have you got your home learning book ready? PLEASE remember to write the date and underline it, I will still be checking that you are remembering your capital letters for the proper nouns and neat presentation including using a ruler, particularly for maths if you don't have squared paper, don't think you've got it easy now you're in your PJs and not school uniform!
